This Man Went Vegan And Something Amazing Happened
There once was an obese kid who suffered with allergies and asthma. He seemed to be sick all of the time. As one cold was ending, another one would begin.
He was diagnosed with asthma as a young child. The doctors sent he and his parents home with a “rescue” inhaler, as well as an at home nebulizer for breathing treatments when severe asthma attacks would flair up. He was even hospitalized twice.
He learned to live with his asthma, allergies, and colds, as though it was just as much a part of his life as tying his shoes.
As his pants wore in, they would show an outline of his inhaler. Similar to the outline many guys get from carrying their wallet in their back pocket.
They wore out the search for relief, jumping from allergist to pediatrician to asthma specialist. And each one gave the same answer- “Here kid, try this powder, inhaler, or pill.”
Then one day an MD he came across caught him off guard.
He was fed up with taking all of these drugs, having no idea how they would effect him long-term. And even more, he was sick and tired of feeling like shit, and doing nothing more than covering up his symptoms. He wanted to be free of this.
He asked the MD, “Dr. is there a natural way to cure my asthma and allergies?”
To his surprise the Dr. replied, “There may be. Try cutting dairy out of your diet, and then come back and talk to me.”
That boy was me (Matt). And that recommendation to eliminate dairy from my diet, transformed my life completely.
At the time I was vegetarian, and had the good intention of going vegan at some point in the future, but that Dr. gave me the motivation to quit putting it off.
I now live prescription drug free. And I truly only have an inhaler for emergency situations, which very rarely come up.
Every day I wake up feeling amazing, and colds are few and far between.
Phil and Matt:
And stories like this one are not rare.
Dr. Michael Greger says, “as a medical doctor, I consider adopting a plant-based diet to be one of the most important things someone can do to prevent the leading causes of disease.”
According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics: people who leave meat off their plates have lower body weight, rates of cancer, rates of heart disease, rates of diabetes, and more.
But more importantly it’s about extending our circle of compassion to as many others as possible.
Most of the animals raised and killed for food in the U.S. are treated like meat producing machines. They are confined in cages so small they can barely move, mutilated without painkillers, subjected to abusive handling, and brutally slaughtered.
That’s fucked up. And that’s why at Vegan Bros we are committed to helping people move toward a vegan diet when they feel the time is right for them.
So basically what we’re saying is adopting a vegan diet prevents horrific animal suffering and has changed the lives and health of many.
If you have any friends or family who might benefit from this story please share it with them.
